Our Team
Dr. Carey Washington is a clinical psychologist who is an expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This is the most recognized type of therapy for anxiety disorders which often accompany ADHD patients. This type of therapy is typically very short term, that is to say about 2-3 months. Dr. Washington also has many years of experience in marriage counseling and forensic psychology.
Dr. Lynn Washington is doubly credentialed in both Audiology and Speech and Language Pathology. Many of our patients have Central Auditory Processing Deficiencies (CAPD) which can both accompany ADHD and mimic ADHD. She both evaluates those of our patients who seem likely to have CAPD and those that are found to have it are offered the type of language therapy which can be effective in treating this disorder. She also is very helpful in treating our patients with Asperger's Syndrome and the Autistic Spectrum Disorder----all of whom have problems communicating effectively. Dr. Burnett is very effective in treating disorders of written composition and has prepared many students for the SAT. Finally, many of our patients with anger problems based on communication problem frustrations have been helped in improving communication skills.
Ms. Sandra Mashburn is the Director of Reading Success, Inc. She is on the faculty of the Education Department of Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. This team of experts evaluates children with learning disabilities. By finding their weaknesses, they are able to design educational therapy programs to be implemented twice a week in our office. They are also helpful in showing the children's own teachers how they best can be taught.
Palmetto Associates for Scholastic Success has other experts in Occupational Therapy, social work, nutrition and psychological testing who contribute to the team that we use in giving a total program for our patients.
